coax cables piss me off
I am so sick and tired of these stupid fucking coaxial cables. Let me explain what is going on (rant)
My Internet router is on the floor, and the fan turns on and it sounds like a jet engine going to take off, so I decided to buy a new coaxial cable so I can move the router off the floor, as the location where I planned to put it was good for the WiFi signal but there was one small issue - it was too far from the coax wall plate, which gives me internet.
I got a 25ft cable (yes it is that far) so I can put it on the area where I can put it. I went to the hardware store, bought it, connected it, taped it to the wall and it seemed to work, until it reached midnight, which was when the light on my Xfinity XB7 router turned orange, which means it lost the downstream signal and it is trying to retrieve it.
I fiddled around with the coax cable. Tightening, loosening, disconnecting and reconnecting, and restarting the Xfinity router 80 times - didn't work.
I decided to check the routers admin panel, and it was stuck on acquiring the upstream
"Initialize Hardware:Complete
Acquire Downstream Channel:Complete
Upstream Ranging:NotStarted
DHCP bound:NotStarted
Set Time-of-Day:NotStarted
Configuration File Download:NotStarted
Registration:NotStarted"
I wasted an HOUR OF MY NIGHT TRYING TO FIX THIS CABLE. I just decided to grab the Xfinity router, place it on the floor, and use the old coax cable, and guess what? IT WORKED AGAIN. So now I need to the store again to get a new cable.
The router went from this, off the floor, WORKING, connected to my Xbox and PC via Ethernet
To right back on the floor! Amazing right? Istg these cables piss me off sometimes
Oh and yes, managing my home network settings is "Easier than ever" when the app doesn't work.
